Annandale Road - Rear Extension, Remodel of Ground and First Floor & Refurb

The Brief:    Remodel the ground floor to provide an open plan kitchen diner and lounge area at the back of the house, a downstairs toilet and utility room.  Create an extra bedroom on the first floor and on the top floor remodel the en-suite shower room.  To refurbish all other areas of the house.

 

This major project was undertaken in three phases so the family could live in the house throughout the project.  The work started on the top floor with a straightforward refurbishment of the master bedroom and remodel of the en-suite shower room to transform it from a feeling cramped to bright and spacious.  The study room was turned into a light organised work area by opening up the roof with a Velux window and creating bespoke storage in the awkward eaves space.  As a two storey extension was not an option, the solution to creating an extra bedroom was to remodel the first floor. The large family bathroom became a bedroom, the two large existing bedrooms had a little bit taken from each which gave just enough floor area to create a new luxurious family bathroom.  The ground floor also had an extensive remodel.  The kitchen was moved to the back of the house and the sitting room moved to the old kitchen.  A six metre extension was added across the whole of the back of the house to create the dream open plan kitchen, diner and lounge area, and a new downstairs toilet and fantastic utility room.  Although there wasn’t a lot of garden left, the remaining garden was levelled and landscaped with planting areas, grass and a patio with flush threshold to bring the outside in.

 

Wendy was absolutely key to remodelling of our entire house.  Our kitchen was moved from the front to the back of the house and completely redesigned to be the centrepiece of the ground floor; on the middle floor, a new bathroom and bedroom were created and on the top floor, she redesigned our shower room, bedroom and study.  Wendy was also instrumental in helping me choose colour schemes throughout and rethinking the front of the house and back garden.  She worked tirelessly with the architect, builders and planning permission to create a beautiful new house to the highest specification.  We are really happy with it! Annandale Road - Side return extension 

The Brief:   Side return extension to create a study and music area and extend the kitchen to give a spacious dining area with room for a sofa to provide a space for the family to be together to relax and entertain. 

 

This project was not a conventional side return, Sara was very specific that her kitchen was perfect as it was but she wanted to have a bigger dining area filled with light and a space that could be used for a study and music area.  The length of the kitchen was extended across the width of the house to provide the entertaining and relaxing space needed but instead of the usual design of removing the side return wall a study area with bespoke storage and soundproof music area was created within the existing side return.  Each detail was considered to ensure that the family’s needs were met and they had exactly what they needed on completion of the project and into the future.

 

Wendy was a fantastic project manager. She has a great eye for detail and a tactful manner with clients, builders, architect and neighbours. She understood our individual needs and was gently directive and prompting with many decisions along the way, from ceiling heights to door furniture.  We now have a light, spacious, extended kitchen with tri-fold doors to a reconfigured garden and patio, including lighting and raised beds, an office space and one level flooring throughout the ground floor. We would not have embarked on the project without her because we were already stretched with work and children. It was all completed as planned and within budget, and in time for Christmas.  We are so pleased with the outcome. The kitchen is our favourite space. Sara & John 

Foyle Road - Loft Extension

The Brief:  Loft conversion to create an extra bedroom and en-suite shower room. 

 

Being in a conservation area the planning regulations only allowed two small dormer windows to be added to the roof so the space had to be cleverly designed to fit a bedroom and shower room into the area.  This was done by creatively installing the staircase so it blended seamlessly and had very little impact on space in the rest of the house.  The beautiful shower room was designed to fit a large shower into the awkward space with plenty of storage in the shower room and the rest of the loft.  Throughout the design and build of the loft every detail was thought about to give a truly bespoke space that works to its best.

 

Wendy was completely committed to making sure the tricky design of the loft worked for us and came up with innovative solutions to make the best use of space.  The attention to detail and dedication ensured that the project finished within budget and on time with a great finish.  They handled all the queries with builders and suppliers which took a lot of stress away from us.  It was definitely the right decision to get have it project managed, it was a pleasure working with the dedicated team. Banyard Road - Maisonette Renovation

The Brief:   To renovate the two bedroom maisonette redesigning and installing a new kitchen with dining area and through lounge.  Upstairs, strip back the bedrooms to brick and remove the chimney then plaster, redecorate and carpet. Redecorate throughout and build bespoke cupboards with wardrobe space.  Create a storage space with in the loft with access to the roof.

 

The maisonette needed updating to become a home again but without the time and experience to devote to this project a dedicated project manager was needed to help with the design work and ensure everything went smoothly.  Everything except the bathroom needed stripping out and redecorating from top to bottom.  Stephen has an exceptional eye for detail and was very clear about the brief for the kitchen units, colours and detailing.  The team worked closely with him to ensure the design of the kitchen was exactly what they needed, the built in furniture was detailed perfectly and that everything was finished to an exceptionally high standard.

 

It was so lovely to be able to leave your home in somebody else’s hands and feel safe and secure.  The project was delivered with such excellent workmanship and a superior quality finish in every detail.  Brendan & Stephen 

Kemsing Road - L Shaped Loft Extension & Complete Renovation

The Brief:  To renovate the whole house inside and out, including electrics and plumbing and kitchen and bathrooms, remove the rear chimney and create an L-shaped loft.

 

This typical three bedroom Victorian terrace had just about everything done to it that is possible.  The owners who had have lived in the property for many years decided that as they were converting the loft it would be a good time to do the work needed to the rest of their home.  This extensive project started in the loft with a straightforward L-shaped loft built giving them an extra bedroom, en-suite shower room and study.  A new heating and hot water system and new electrics throughout meant that when the team moved down to the first and ground floor the house was gutted including, the kitchen being stripped out and the old family bathroom and toilet too.  The next major job was removing the chimney at the back of the house, from loft level to the ground floor, to create much needed space on the upstairs landing and the kitchen.  Every little bit of the house was worked on, every room was re-plastered and coving added with new skirtings and architraves to give the house back its feeling of a period property and then decorated.  The windows were either replaced or re-furbished where possible, the back of the house re-rendered and the front had the render removed.  A patio was laid in the back garden, side return and the front garden, the back of the house was rerendered and the front had thick render removed to take it back to the origninal brickwork.  The clients were very clear about how they wanted their home to look but they needed help designing the kitchen and bathrooms to ensure it gave them everything they needed, and a project manager to take them through the planning and building phases. 

 

Wendy met with us several times initially to have increasingly focused discussions about our requirements, budget and to make suggestions of improvements that we may not have considered.  Wendy has a good knowledge of building requirements and prepared a Specification that was both suitable for the builder to quote on and for us to follow.  As the project went on, the builders presented us with some timing and quality issues. Wendy was either aware of this or it was easy for us to contact her on a day to day basis, so that she could liaise with the builder on our behalf and resolve the issues.  Above all, we were particularly pleased with Wendy's experience of interior designing. For example, we found the options for changing both the style and layout of our new kitchen rather overwhelming. Therefore we were delighted that Wendy was able to point us in the right direction for planning and receiving a solution that we are really happy with. Mick & Veronica 

Chevening Road - Kitchen Refurbishment

The Brief:  To re-design and replace the kitchen

 

Wendy managed our recent kitchen project.  She offered us an amazing service, has a great eye for detail, and used reliable, reputable builders. Her invaluable role was there from the start. She presented us with well researched advice at the design stage, and discussed some of the best options for using our small space to its potential.  Wendy also managed the sensitive balance between giving us time to make some of the key decisions that were needed, and also taking some of those stressful aspects of any project away from us. Little Heath - Refurbishment of Bathrooms

The Brief:   To re-design and refurbish the family bathroom, shower room and separate toilet.

 

Wendy’s knowledge and expertise made all the difference to my bathroom/shower room/toilet renovation project.  Her design ideas and product knowledge helped me get the look I wanted within my budget and to realise my vision in some small spaces.  Her attention to detail in drawing up the spec and negotiating the contract with the builder was impressive and the fact that she was able to project manage the work on site from start to finish took away all the stress.
